Mustafa - true story of a Tiger

My documentary is about Mustafa, a man-eating Tiger in the jungles of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, India who had been ordered to be killed on-sight. Habitat loss and increase in population density have forced animals like Mustafa to come out of the jungle and become a man-eater. These tigers are framed for the crime they have never committed. The documentary showcases a detailed description about what goes on in a rescue operation in the forests of India and how the forest department deals with the hurdles while saving the animal as well as protecting the humans residing locally in or near the areas. The documentary shows how Mustafa was rescued by Dr Utkarsh Shukla and his team along with all the constraints faced by them. Dr Utkarsh Shukla has been working as a Deputy Director of Lucknow Zoo, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has been rescuing over 150 animals in distress for a span of 25 years now involving several Leopards, Tigers, two Dolphins, a Rhino and many others. My documentary was shot in India for which I had to travel back to the jungles of Pilibhit where the incident took place. This project is close to my heart as Dr. Utkarsh Shukla is my father and the man behind saving the lives of so many wild animals. The shoot took place in summer of 2022 in Pilibhit, Dudhwa National park and Lucknow zoo in Uttar Pradesh, India. The documentary was shot on a Nikon D850, as it was difficult to take any crew in the interiors of the forest, let alone travel back to India with me. The shoot lasted 15 days which was later edited with the help of my classmate Viraj Dhorajiya who is the main editor of the documentary. The music was done by Solmi Kim and mix and master was performed by Prajuwal Prakash. My head of department Lee-jane has been a great support to me, helping me develop the story. My cinematography faculty Peter Bathurst helped me before the shoot, making me understand how to plan my visuals beforehand which made the editing easier. I would like to thank the forest department of Uttar Pradesh, Dudhwa National Park and Pilibhit tiger reserve, including all the officials that were a part of the operation to rescue Mustafa, to take out time and give their precious insights and intricate details for this Documentary. The people involved in this operation are as follows: Dr. Utkarsh Shukla Deputy Director Lucknow Zoo, Uttar Pradesh, India P.P. Singh Chief conservator Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India Dr.Mudit Gupta Sr.Coordinator Tarai Arc WWF-India Dabeer Hasan Sr. Project Officer WWF-India Naresh Kumar Sr.Project Officer WWF-India. Momin Arif R.O. Pilibhit Uttar Pradesh, India Wazir Hasan R.O. Pilibhit Uttar Pradesh, India Kailash prasad Deputy director Dudhwa National Park Uttar Pradesh, India Mohm. Tariq Journalist Pilibhit,Uttar Pradesh, India I would like to thank the University of Greenwich for giving me this wonderful opportunity and platform where I can share the untold stories of rescued animals in India to the world. I have been blessed to have faculties and seniors that have guided me throughout this entire journey and helped me tell the untold story of Mustafa. Anushree Shukla

  3. The Black Bull Incident: Episode Three - None of You Left

Through an interview, we learn more about the remains found at the excavation, and how John escaped from the hospital into a world gone mad at the seams. (Episodes 1 & 2 also available) • What is THE BLACK BULL INCIDENT? THE BLACK BULL INCIDENT is an original animated story presented in the style of a graphic novel, with full narration, an original music score, and a visual effect which blurs the boundaries between you, the 'reader', and the stories on the page. • Is it any GOOD? Episode 1 of this series recently won 'Best Horror' at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival. It has also been selected and screened in Downtown Las Vegas at the Sin City Horror Fest, and received an 'Award of Excellence' in the Sumer 2017 Global Webisode Competition for WRPN.TV; Episodes 1 & 2 were selected and screened at the 2017 European Short Film Festival;; Episodes 2 & 3 have not yet been released publicly. • What's THE STORY? Delivered over four short 'cool and stylised' episodes, it presents an account of what happens following the emergence of some sinister pathogen which leaves in its wake the full horror and malevolence of medieval England when it is released upon the unsuspecting (and ill-prepared) modern world. • What's THE FORMAT? Episodes are delivered on video with an original and engaging soundtrack. The technique and visual format for this work makes use of original photographs (heavily stylised / post-produced / cutout), it then plays with depth and layering of the 2D assets over time to give a three dimensional perspective to the imagery through parallax. • SAY WHAT? Essentially we are pushing scenery to the background (deep in the page), and the action further forward. At times, (particularly in eerie moments, or for the purpose of a jump scare or two!) the technique additionally breaks the forth wall. • WHO'S WHO? THE BLACK BULL INCIDENT is created by Rob Wright and Si Wright. Rob & Si just happen to share the same family name, but are not related. They've been friends since School where they met, some 30 [very] odd years ago.

  61. Heaven & Hell

In this film, I’ve sought to create a multi-sensory audit of a world in collapse, bridging the widening chasm between political hypocrisy and our fractured social reality. By centering the film on the recurring motif of a fraying flag, I wanted to expose the terrifying fragility of democracy as it buckles under the weight of human greed. I chose to set this human turmoil against the indifferent majesty of nature—where falling snow and rising oceans serve as a silent witness to our choices. Complemented by Veryan’s haunting soundscape and Liz Helman’s narration, the work stands as a cinematic elegy for the marginalized. Ultimately, it is a poetic reminder that while the powerful debate our future, the heaviest burden is always borne by those least responsible for the crisis.

Spill a Little Tea reimagines Delaroche’s The Execution of Lady Jane Grey as a contemporary act of witnessing and resistance. This piece stands for women across time who have been unjustly killed, abused, or silenced. By revisiting a historical moment of innocence and powerlessness, the work insists on remembrance, accountability, and the urgent necessity of speaking truths that were never meant to disappear.

He describes his love for each horse as being equal but different, as it is with his children. 140. LIN ZHENGYU:TEAR AND FIRE

Tears and Fire is an animated short film adapted from the folk myths and legends of the Hakka communities in southern Jiangxi (Ganzhou region). The project draws on long-standing local oral traditions centered on Lin Xian Erlang—Lin Zhengyu. From a young age, Lin Xian Erlang studied Daoist practices in the mountains and returned to his village to protect the people using his spiritual powers. However, in the course of avenging his enemies, he tragically lost his young children and ultimately his own life. When his village was threatened, he used his final strength to defend it, eventually ascending a guardian deity. The creators conducted extensive field research, genealogical studies, and oral history collection to reinterpret traditional narratives in a contemporary context. Parts of the production also employed Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) techniques. The project explores innovative expressions of local cultural resources within animation, filling a gap in the representation of Hakka culture in this medium. The film has received support and attention from institutions such as the Longnan Hakka and Yangming Culture Research Center and the Zhengyu Temple Council in Chenglong Town, Longnan City, Jiangxi Province. The narrative revolves around themes of fate and personal choice, portraying Lin Zhengyu’s journey as he protects his people, unintentionally killed his adopted son, and ultimately transcends to divinity. Visually, the film blends Hakka architecture and traditional clothing with Chinese artistic forms such as ink painting, paper-cutting, and shadow puppetry. In its sound design, it incorporates Hakka dialects and mountain songs, creating a distinct regional cultural identity and an Eastern aesthetic.
